5 tips for faster 3-axis programming with QuickMill

QuickMill is the 3-axis machining toolset of ZW3DCAM, optimized for mold and housing parts.

1. Use process templates

Save frequently used operation sequences as templates and apply them to similar parts.

2. Adaptive roughing

Adaptive roughing keeps the tool load steady, allowing higher feed rates.

3. Slope-based finishing

Separate steep and shallow areas to choose the right finishing strategy and reduce re-runs.

4. Rest machining with smaller tools

After roughing, use rest machining so a smaller tool only cuts the corners and narrow slots the larger tool could not reach, instead of re-running the whole surface.

5. Simulate before posting G-code

Run material removal simulation and check tool and holder collisions with the fixture inside ZW3DCAM, then post the program with the right post-processor for your CNC machine.
